Mental Health Education:

Commonly called “Psychoeducation” provides information to clients who are suffering from psychological conditions and their families about the condition and provide all involved with coping skills.

Military Service Members, Veterans and their Families

Military families face challenges such a frequent moves, deployments and other long periods of absence. It can be difficult to adjust to the absence of a family member for any length of time. And assimilation back into family life can be challenging for the whole family. As a veteran I am uniquely qualified to assist in these tough times.

Trauma and PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation.

Stress Management

Offers a variety of tools to assist you in dealing with stresses and difficulties in your life. Stress is a full body (physical, mental & emotional) response to a challenging event. Stress can be used positively, leading to growth and change.

Mindfulness Practices

Places focus and awareness on the present moment’s thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and environment. Thoughts become in tune with what is in the present moment rather than living in the past or the future.

Depression

When feeling down, sad, or upset is your normal, and you are feeling that way for several days or weeks on end. Often accompanied by physical and emotion symptoms.

Anxiety

When you have persistent fear and worry. It’s not uncommon to experience anxiety before a big event or important decision. However, chronic anxiety can lead to irrational thoughts and fears that interfere with your daily life. Often accompanied by physical and emotion symptoms.

Grief & Loss

Grief is the normal process a person goes through when reacting to a loss. The loss may be physical (such as a death), social (such as divorce), or occupational (such as a job). Emotional reactions of grief can include anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness, and despair. Often accompanied by physical reactions including changes in sleep, appetite, physical problems, or illness.

Addiction & Substance use

Addiction is a complex condition, that causes compulsive substance use despite harmful consequences. People with addiction (severe substance use disorder) have an intense focus on using a certain substance(s), such as alcohol or drugs, to the point that it takes over their life. Often those with an addiction have distorted patterns of thinking, behaviors and body functions.

Career Issues

As we grow in our careers our goals and skillsets evolve. This can lead to dysregulation in emotions and feelings when looking at making a change. Changes include a new position with increased or decreased responsibility, change in companies, layoff or retirement.

Eating Disorders

Have severe disturbances in people’s eating behaviors and related to their thoughts and emotions. A preoccupation with food, body weight, and shape may also signal an eating disorder. Eating disorders can cause serious physical issues that need to be treated by a medical doctor.

Body Image

Clinically known as body dysmorphic disorder where one has a fixation on one or more self-perceived body flaws, leading to serious mental distress and inability to properly function socially.

Life Coaching

Life changes can be challenging. Some successful people work with a life coach for the same reason that athletes train with a sports coach – to maximize the potential you already possess and add to your skillset. You have the power to be the best version of yourself. My motivational coaching style provides busy individuals with the space they need to pause, reflect, and tune in to your mind and body – before leaping forward to the next adventure.

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Mental Health Supervisor

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the great state of California with experience treating individuals and families who have anxiety and depression stemming from issues people experience as they transition to different phases in their lives.

As an Air Force veteran, I am uniquely qualified to assist members of the military and their families as they face many of the challenges that are specific to the military community.

With the high percentage of positive results Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the predominate treatment option chosen by mental health practitioners for its effectiveness and ability to teach clients coping skills they can use after treatment ends.

My passion has always been helping people, even while in the military. Helping people realize their true potential, find their happiness or work through what they could not go a minute without thinking about; no matter what it may be.
